Research Description
Dr. Reynolds' research interests focus on studying the impact of new cardiovascular technologies on health care costs and quality of life. He is the recipient of a K23 mentored patient-oriented career development award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. The purpose of the grant is to study the impact of radiofrequency catheter ablation and other interventions on health care costs and quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation. He has also completed economic analyses related to coronary stenting, stent thrombosis, therapies for in-stent restenosis, and management strategies for atrial fibrillation, as well as a population wide outcomes study following cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation. Dr. Reynolds has served as Medical Director for HCRI's Economics and Quality of Life Assessment group since 2006.Biography
Dr. Reynolds received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. In addition to his research activities, Dr. Reynolds holds a part-time clinical appointment in cardiac electrophysiology at the Boston VA Healthcare System, where he performs the full range of EP procedures, including implantation of pacemakers, ICDs and cardiac resynchronization devices; diagnostic EP studies, and catheter ablations.
