Research Description
Under the direction of Dr. Pollack, the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders at the Massachusetts General Hospital is one of the nation's leading centers for the treatment of anxiety disorders, carrying out research on the development of novel pharmacologic and psychosocial therapeutics and conducting studies utilizing neuroimaging, genetics, neuroendocrinology and neurophysiology. Over the last 25 years Dr Pollack has led a number of National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) supported trials and served as principal and coordinating investigator on numerous multicenter company sponsored trials of novel and established agents, as well. He consults extensively to the pharmaceutical industry on protocol design and development, study implementation, data analysis, interaction with regulatory agencies and rater training and certification. Dr Pollack has published over 300 articles, reviews and chapters, as well as 3 books. He serves on numerous editorial and advisory boards, lectures widely in national and international fora, and is editor-in-chief of the journal CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics.Biography
Dr Pollack received his M.D. in 1982 from New Jersey Medical School, and completed residency and fellowship training in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has been Director of the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders at the Massachusetts General Hospital since 1990 and is a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.Recent Awards
